Founded in 2014 by designer, jeweller and now cosmetics-queen Anna Ross, Kester Black blends ethics and beauty in a way that redefines the industry standard. Anna’s passion for natural cosmetics has led us to become the world’s first beauty brand to obtain the ultra-gruelling B Corp certification - and uphold it in style. While Kester Black was never a plot to shake up the industry, we’ve always believed in creating better beauty products; the kind that don’t harm us or those around us. And we’re committed to walking the talk. From our transparency to our ingredients, our manufacturing and the way we run our business – we take responsibility seriously. We work from a paperless office run on renewable energy, using only recyclable materials. We’re completely against the concept of forced labour, because duh, it’s illegal and even more duh, it’s wrong! So we’ll never, ever, employ or engage suppliers who employ anyone under the legal working age. And we’re a non-discriminatory, totally gender inclusive brand; so all are welcome to enjoy our kind, kind of cosmetics. Looks that aren’t deceiving. We design with the end-life of our products in mind, manufacturing in quantities we know we’ll use, with as much recyclable packaging as possible. Products, good enough to eat. (But, please don’t) Take a look at our labels, and you’ll find ingredients that would fit right in at brunch: like kefir, olive oil and organic avocado oil (and we’ll have a side of sprouted sourdough, thanks). We use only the highest quality ingredients (organic, where possible) because we’ve found that they work better, with more active natural compounds, less of an environmental footprint, and plenty of nourishing vitamins. We're also very particular when it comes to our formulations, never using ingredients that we wouldn't use on our own pals, parents or siblings. Vegan and cruelty-free None of our products contains any ingredient derived from animals, and our products have never, and will never, be tested on animals. Carbon neutral Our company and all of our products are 100% certified carbon neutral. Halal certified, mashallah. And because we wanted to be a completely inclusive beauty company, our entire nail polish range is water-permeable and breathable; so our Muslim sisters can wear our polish too – in over 50 fashion colours to choose from.
